Poetry?

This is just a little something that I was writing earlier when I was feeling very lonely and kinda scared.

Dear God,

I wish someday for a love, a husband.

I hope for someone that I can serve you better with than by myself.

I want someone who will love me for me.

I want a life to live and a family to live it with.

I hope for someone who can protect me and provide for me.

I wish for someone who shares my faith and my values.

But while I wait, I will follow You to whatever You have planned.

While I wait, I will be patient on Your timing.

While I wait, I will grow closer to You and come to love You more.

While I wait, I will make myself better for him. I will become the wife he needs and deserves.

In all this, I will wait for You and Your timing.

All my heart, soul, and love,
Emily

Like I said, just something I wrote today when I was feeling a bit lonely.

In God, Emily

Living the Life

A couple months ago I was wearing a t-shirt that my mom got me at a Beth Moore conference we attended last year.  If you are not familiar with Beth Moore, her ministry is called Living Proof Ministries.  The t-shirt said, "I'm living proof." I had someone come up to me and ask what it said.  Then she asked what I was living proof of. Her question threw me off guard. What am I living proof of? I stammered out an answer.  Something along the lines of, "I'm living proof of God working in my life." That answer was not necessarily wrong. But as a mature Christian, why did I not have an answered prepared?  I knew what the shirt said.  I should have been ready to answer such a question.   As Christians, we wear certain things, such as our "Christian" t-shirts, or we act certain ways or do certain things, like praying before we eat.  We should be ready to give a reason for any of these things at any moment. The bible tells us to, " p...

"I See You"

A lot has happened in the last few months.  I may post more of an update on that later, but, for your information, we picked up our daughter right before Thanksgiving. As our daughter has grown, my husband has found a sure way to make her giggle that adorable little laugh.    EVERY TIME.    He looks at her and simply says, “I see you!”    I love to hear that little giggle.    It could go on for days.    Matt looks at her and says it.    She giggles.    He pulls back and then leans in again.    He repeats the words.    She giggles.    As I was thinking and contemplating this the other day, it came to me.    That is what every little girl wants – to be seen by her daddy. How true this is for every child of God as well.    We want to know that we are seen by God.  What better way to love someone than by letting them know that they are SEEN. ...

Jehovah - The Relational God (The Power of God's Names - Tony Evans)

I just started reading Tony Evan's The Power of God's Names  the other day. Learning more about the names that God has given Himself is very enlightening for me to know more about who God is. The second name that is discussed in the book is Jehovah - "I Am who I Am" (Exodus 3:13). Evans said, "When [Yahweh] was translated into English, it became the name which most of us today know it as - Jehovah . So when you hear the name Jehovah , keep in ming that this is the Hebrew name YHWH, meaning 'I am the existing one.'" (page 44) "I am the existing one" This is in the present tense. God has always existed and will always exist. There is no beginning or end to God. God did not have a creator, but He is the Creator. As Evans points out in the book, each of us could not be here without our parents. It's not possible. Not only is our existence dependent on our parents, but also on things we might not think about, like oxygen, food, w...
