Thanksgiving

So I know that thanksgiving is the topic of the season. Everyone is writing about it. And I haven't written in a while, but that's just it.

Thanksgiving is such a big thing, not only because the world makes a big deal about it, but also because GOD makes a big deal about it.

We are to bring thanksgiving always to the feet of God.

Over and over in His Word, it shows us that we must bring thanksgiving.

Psalm 100 says this:

"Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations."

In all I do, I want to bring praise. I want to bring thanks.

"In all that I do, every word that I say, I'll be giving my all just for Him, for Him." - We are the Reason

Living the Life

A couple months ago I was wearing a t-shirt that my mom got me at a Beth Moore conference we attended last year.  If you are not familiar with Beth Moore, her ministry is called Living Proof Ministries.  The t-shirt said, "I'm living proof." I had someone come up to me and ask what it said.  Then she asked what I was living proof of. Her question threw me off guard. What am I living proof of? I stammered out an answer.  Something along the lines of, "I'm living proof of God working in my life." That answer was not necessarily wrong. But as a mature Christian, why did I not have an answered prepared?  I knew what the shirt said.  I should have been ready to answer such a question.   As Christians, we wear certain things, such as our "Christian" t-shirts, or we act certain ways or do certain things, like praying before we eat.  We should be ready to give a reason for any of these things at any moment. The bible tells us to, " p...

Hope for the Future

This afternoon, Matt and I had the pleasure of watching my twin nieces for a couple hours.  What a blessing! I picked them up when I got off work, and we made a quick run through Sonic for some $0.50 corn dogs (Matt and the girls love them!)  Easy dinner for the win! As we came to the house, we sat down around our table and enjoyed a meal together.  I didn't even have to get onto the girls that much, which was a nice change of pace. After dinner, the girls colored at the table as Matt and I caught up on our day. We then spent some time reading to the girls some of the children's books that we have stashed away for our little ones in the future.  We even have an entire collection of books from Matt's childhood! The part of the evening that gives me the most hope is this: I watched my husband sit on the couch with two curly-headed four year olds and read them stories. I saw a glimpse of the daddy that he is going to get to be someday. And I loved every ...

Verse to Think About- 2 King 19:30

"And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward." 2 Kings 19:30 We are called to take root downward. This is making sure that we are grounded in Christ Jesus.  Also, we are called to bear fruit upwards. This is showing the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of righteousness.  The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We are called to practice these every day of our lives. We are to show these to the people around us, to be an example to the people around us that do not know Christ's love and God's grace. Just something to think about. And I have to throw this in for a friend...Jesus is awesome! And so true it is. Thanks for reading. In God, Emily
