So I am going to be honest. I have been struggling to be faithful in studying my bible. For awhile. I have been reading it. But in the loosest sense of that word as well. I skim the words to mark of that I read it for that day.
In the coming year, I do not want to focus on reading so much as I want to learn how to study the bible. For real. I want to dig into God's word, grow closer to Him, and learn how to listen not just talk at Him.
So as I work on being selfless in my prayer life (see my previous post), I am also going to work on studying. There is no way that I am going to continue to grow closer to God if I do not learn how to study His Word.
I want to ask you to share any ways that you have that help you to study God's Word. Please leave comments below.
Thanks for reading.

Dear Emily, you are in my prayers! one of the best resources I've found that's helped me is a little booklet called Found: God's Will by John MacArthur. It is short and simple, you could have it read in a day. if you haven't already done so, I encourage you to read it!

Sarah, thank you so much! I am going to have to look into that next time I am at Lifeway. Or I might try to find it online. Emily

ReplyDeleteEmily, the booklet is available from his website, and it is only $2. I had several of them and actually gave 10 away for prizes on my blog, (they were 1.50 then) I wish I still had one for you. We have our copy if you would like to borrow it; you would be MORE than welcome to. Mine is highlighted through though, that is how I read books like that one, but it totally changed how I thought about God's will for my life. It was amazing! I have a bit of it on a post, go to the sidebar of the blog and look for the "God's Will" tag. I think you will like it as well.
